Queenstown Lakes Aerials - NZ

The Queenstown Lakes District in the Otago Region of the South Island of New Zealand includes the towns of Queenstown, Wanaka, Glenorchy and Kingston.

The district is named for it's three major lakes: Lake Wakatipu, which is fed at its northern end by the Dart River; Lake Wanaka, fed in part at its southwestern edge by the Matukituki River; and Lake Hawea, fed at its northern end by the Hunter River.

The three rivers are all examples of braided rivers, common in the South Island due to the high sediment load in the rivers caused by glacial erosion.
